LOA Benefits

Educational Programs
LOA provides educational opportunities for members and their staff. Each year, LOA participates in the Southeast Eye Annual Meeting with Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee called “Sand, Surf, and See”. The meeting takes place at the Grand Sandestin Hotel in Destin, Florida each July. The program includes presentations for physicians, technicians, and staff members. Continuing education credits are available. It’s the perfect mix of vacation and education!

Each year LOA co-sponsors CODEquest, an ophthalmic coding course for both physicians and staff members. Your insurance and coding staff will learn the latest Louisiana specific coding updates. The seminar will also grant CME credits for physicians who attend.

Legislative/Regulatory Advocacy and PAC
The LOA retains a lobbyist to represent you and your practice to ensure that quality eye care, professionalism, and unrestricted access to patients are met. The LOA lobbyist monitors all legislative as well as regulatory committees effecting ophthalmology.

In addition, the LOA administers the Louisiana Eye Political Action Committee (PAC). The Louisiana Eye PAC collects voluntary contributions from ophthalmologists around the state and distributes them to members of the Louisiana legislature and statewide officials.
